Halloween and harevst work

Harold has a friend who grows carrots. He shared some with us via Harold. This one was huge! The kids thought that was really neat.
We went to beet harvest and got to ride with HArold. He is so good at including kids and helping them feel indepdendent.
At home every day the kids are getting a few more responsibilities and opportunities to work. Bruce and AFton now feed the cows in the evening. Merle and Lia help as well.

MArk has been researching for years, I've been learning for months and we decided to try cover crops. We deliberately waited till late OCtober to plant because we weren't sure what moisture we would have. The fall was very dry. We rented a neighbors no till drill and drilled the seeds Mark selected.
It was quite a variety.

The other kids also participated in HAlloween. Lia LAdy bug Merle Indian from Indian in the cupboard. Millie a pumpkin or something.
Bruce was a cowboy or Boone from Indian in the cupboard with cousin Evander the Ninja.
WE enjoyed the audiobook indian in the cupboard and this indian costume was available at the thrift store. Worked out nicely.
At home while watering we got another piece of land ready to seed. Millie, Afton and Bruce were charged with moving this log. When they lifted it there were many mice that scurried away. Bruce hurried to stomp out their lives. This team feeds animals, waters, kills mice, rakes leaves, shovels manure, pulls fence posts, etc. They are gaining. Millie and Afton are becoming competent cooks. Millie reads and reproduces most recipes, Afton is the egg lady. She makes them for breakfast and snacks. She prefers to fry them in bacon grease, all are thankful for the nutrition.

And more thriftstore finds some guns. It cost me 8 dollars and half an hour to hunt through the bargains at the thrift store. The kids were delighted! We need to go there more often.
We have a lot of different activities, interests, and needs in our house It's hard to have energy for all. I'm thankful my prayers are answered to get through each day. I had the thought on yet another grumpy day last week that I needed to list and count my blessings. That I'm being ungrateful for the many many blessings I don't notice often enough. So I'm starting with these three who were answers to silent prayers to not be done being a mom. These kiddos bring so much love and curiosity to our home. They are healthy and mostly sweet. They love to help nad do what the big kids do. We are so thankful for them. Life is good.
