4.11.21 Football

This year football was a a lot different. Yet, it was the same. Tough practices, high hopes, hits, bruises, and most importantly team spirit. I think the team aspect was stronger than ever because the forced isolation of COVID made the opportunity to be together even sweeter. Harold played really well and was a large part of the team  literally. These men pictured below were instrumental in providing a space to learn and grow. I really appreciate their commitment to keeping their cool and stepping back when they were frustrated. Never did I see them get mad at a player. Other teams coaches could be heard across the field sometimes but our coaches kept themselves in check.

After winning the final game emotions were high both because it was the end and because they finally won, and the game had been intesne. Harold is congratulating or popping the quarterbacks back.
Hoisting the wagon wheel in triumph!

After the game with mom and dad and brother John. I love my guys. We had a great time that night, the weather was perfect we sat by boisterous fans which emboldened our cheering. It was a really nice event.

The Seniors. Trent Aldred, Brock PAyne, Harold Saunders, Peton Kelso, Vincente Oretega, Brayden GRegory, Kaden Norton.

The Freshmen who mostly didn't play but learn a lot being there watching.
7- Stepleton, 44 - Noah Rivera, John in the back, 60- Chaz Comyford, Ethan Mulvany in the back, 12- Walker Philips, Diesel Johnson not dressed down, CJ?, 11- Haueter. A great group of guys who have a lot of promise.
Brock and HArold with Coach Shaffeld the lineman coach. He hosted a weekly dinner where the guys were able to visit and bond. He opened their taste buds to things like "slap your mama hotsauce" and peppers. I'm thankful for the good times they were able to enjoy.
Vincente Ortega, Peyton Kelso, Trent Aldred, Dawson Lunt, Brayden Gregory, Harold.
Harold photo bombing. What a punk.

Harold celebrating at the end of the game by tossing his helmet in the air.

He played big and he played hard. I'm so thankful he was not hurt and had an injury free season. We are blessed by small town life!
