STEM Science Fair

Millie has been a busy lady. Her class had a Science Fair where they presented their science experiments. Millie won second place. The judges were Jeb And Liz Fritz both friends of Addie, I wonder if they weren't a bit biased. But Millie was an enthusiastic presenters and did a great job explaining the science of volcanoes.

There were many science activities for kids to participate in. I love how the older students help facilitate all activities at the school. These 8th graders are helping the younger students with snap circuits and Virtual  Reality goggle in the background.
The winning exhibit was a test of overcoming what you see with what you read. The winner is an enthusiastic Avery.
Other exhibitors, Butter making and simple levers.
The robot jousting was fun. Kids designed a topper then controlled the robots via ipad to try to pop other contestants balloons.
These little robots followed whatever lines you drew on a page the line was part of their code. Livy enjoyed this one for a while.
We learned about homemade vs. store bought bath bombs- store bought lasts longer. We learned which lotion is best.
Bruce enjoyed the snacks.
So did Livy they are often paired up as she is in 7th grade and he is 2nd the classes work together on these kinds of show and tell days.
This young lady figured out cold water freezes faster than hot. Good to know as I've wondered.
Mason showed that all vegetables do have some electricity and that electricity must complete a circuit.
More 8th grade helpers. They had the ability to show participants many different places in the world from the great wall of china to exotic forests it was literally eye opening.
A highlight was this stop where kids went inside to get a tour of the stars and moon. They loved this experience. I did not go in as so many kids were lined up each time. My younger kids even enjoyed this.
The robot table.
My younger kids get different experiences than the olders. I loved how interactive this was. The local education district has some very engaging leaders right now who sincerely want to lift the thinking of the community. We had a great time experiencing and playing scientist for the day. I was impressed how quickly kids of any age could participate. Kids get science. We are blessed.
