7.12.24 Addie Washington DC

A few weeks ago Addie went to Washington DC. She attended The Washington Leadership Conference with the FFA organization. She sent some beautiful pictures and really enjoyed learning how to tour a dense city full of attractions. She had a great guide Greg's cousin JD. His daughter Julianna and a friend from high school Trent were in the travel group.
Sunset on the Potomac. They had funny and normal boats out during the day.
Addie loves ice cream. Trent said he got tired of eating ice cream each day. After hearing her story of checking one place and then walking 2 miles to another only to decide to go back to the first place, I understand why. The first thing to know when accompanying Addie, you will walk a lot.

I think this is the train station adjoining the airport.

They toured Mt. Vernon on Sunday.

I learned from David McCullough that George Washington had a hand in all the interior design of his house. This was not a standard way of living in his time period. His taste for color and intricate design show his refinement and culture.

Addie said she was surprised by how much color there was in the house.
The Hope Diamond I remember seeing this when I went to Washington DC many years ago in the early 90's.
They ate dinner here. It was an experience.
The Library of congress I believe.
This was a new display of the soldiers in WWII. Part of the Roosevelt display.

More of the exhibit. I marvel how real sculptures can make metal and stone.
The library.

Ford's theatre where Lincoln was shot.

We missed her a bunch but are thankful for times when the kids can learn and expand. Gaining confidence with public transit is huge. Addie also enjoyed meeting people from all over the country at the conference. We are thankful for the many opportunities our kids have and the generous friends and family who facilitate those memory-making days.
